Vorfreude, for me, is the exhilarating anticipation and joyful excitement that builds as I prepare for my upcoming journey to visit my grandkids. From the moment I start thinking about booking my tickets to the day of departure, every day is filled with eager expectation and happiness.
As I meticulously plan my trip, imagining the activities we’ll do together—exploring new places, playing their favorite games, and simply spending quality time catching up—the anticipation only grows. The days leading up to my departure are filled with excitement. The thought of seeing their smiles and hearing their laughter fills me with warmth and joy.

Sometimes, my trips are more spontaneous, and while they are enjoyable in their own right, they lack the same Vorfreude. Both types of trips are wonderful, but there’s something uniquely delightful about the anticipation and planning phase—it’s a time filled with hope, expectation, and the promise of cherished memories to come.
