When you can’t let go, try holding it lightly.

Sometimes, it’s tough to let go completely and we hold onto to things too tightly. When that happens, try holding it lightly! 🕊️ It’s about finding that balance between attachment and detachment – not clinging on for dear life, but not dropping things either.  Being flexible, adaptable, and ready to roll with whatever comes our way.

It’s like carrying a light backpack with a loose strap – you know it’s there, but it’s not dragging you back. 🎒

Take, for instance, when our kids move out. We understand it’s in their and our best interest for them to become independent adults, yet it can be hard to completely let go all at once. It’s quite the emotional rollercoaster – a mix of pride, excitement, and a hint of sadness and nostalgia.

Holding the empty nest lightly means embracing the less day-to-day responsibilities and the more time we suddenly have, while at the same time cherishing the memories of our bustling family home. Sure, the silence might feel deafening at first, but it’s also an opportunity to rediscover ourselves and reignite passions that may have taken a backseat during the parenting years.

Holding it lightly doesn’t mean we’re abandoning our kids or shutting them out of our lives. It’s quite the opposite, actually! By holding onto our relationships with our adult children with an open hand, we create space for them to spread their wings while still being a source of love and support whenever they need us. 🤗💕
